Mel Robbins is a fabulous key note speaker that blew my socks off when I first listened to her on this video from the TEDx SF conference.

She delivers her message in the most hilarious, compelling, logical form catering to all walks of life.

Her delivery styles is flawless and you’ll never again say “I’m fine” unless you truly mean it! LOL!

It always bugged me when people say “I’m fine” or “I’m good” fully aware that they seemed so NOT fine.

Because of this I have always been one to state how I’m really feeling at the time when asked.

 

“All day long you have ideas that could change your life, that could change the world, that could change the way you feel.

And what do you do with them? NOTHING.”

 

So many of us are sleep walking our way through life convincing ourselves that everything is “just fine”.

Therefore we stay in our comfort zone and never force ourselves to do anything because we don’t ‘feel like it’.

 

Activation energy – The force required to change from what your doing on autopilot, to getting you to do something new.

Our mind is a powerful tool, so powerful that we make constant excuses and convince ourselves that we are happy, burying our dreams.

 

As Mel would say “Stop screwing yourself over”

It’s simple to get what you want but it’s not easy.

 

“If you listen to how you feel, when it comes to what you want, you will not get it, because you will never feel like it.”

 

The 5 second rule: If an impulse is not married with an action in 5 seconds, the emergency brake is pulled and the idea is killed.

An idea in your head will go no where if the necessary action is not taken.

 

We all have ideas, after all, the chances of you being born is one in 400 trillion! So you’re not “fine” your “FANTASTIC”.

 

Stop telling yourself you’re fine and force yourself to activate the energy required to get what you want.

 

This is exactly what I did a little over a year and a half ago.

I made a decision to change my current circumstances by taking an action that would change the way I felt

and ultimately give me what I wanted in life.

  1. Great post Alesha. The video was fantastic. Getting a little uncomfortable and “forcing yourself” is certainly worth it.Just “fine” is not where I want to be.

  2. Alesha – this is POWERFUL! thank you so much for sharing! I know I for one usually only say “I’m fine” because I don’t want people to worry, or I don’t want to talk about it… But I also do try to be honest about my true feelings. Guess I have to do a better job of not screwing myself over and start activating my energy RIGHT NOW! Need those brilliant ideas to have room to be created and grow.
